. Republic Bank Hermantown Square branch will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. today. The public is invited to attend.
. The Chester Creek Concerts will kick off the 2008 season Tuesday with music by the popular bluegrass group Spotted Mule. Admission is free.
. The Duluth Transit Authority will return the Port Town Trolley to the streets of Duluth for the summer beginning Sunday.
. Downtown Duluth’s Superior Street and avenues are looking a little greener today, as crews began planting 10 new trees along the corridor as part of a second phase of a plan to return trees to the Downtown.
. The Minnesota Wild/Wells Fargo Road Tour will make a stop in Duluth on Wednesday, June 11, from 4-5 p.m. at the new Duluth Heritage Sports Center. Scheduled to appear are players Aaron Voros and Stephane Veilleux and coaches Mike Ramsey and Bob Mason.
. The Duluth Huskies will work out at 5 p.m. today at Wade Stadium, before traveling to Green Bay for their season opener Thursday. The Huskies’ home opener is at 7 p.m. Saturday.
. Phase II of the Duluth Heritage Sports Center, which includes a second indoor ice arena, is underway. The Boys and Girls Club of Duluth is also close to beginning construction on a new outreach center at the $15.6 million multi-use facility. — Source: DuluthJournal.com

Once we get passed the cold Wednesday morning our meteorological fortunes will take a turn for the better. Winds will haul into the west and readings will bounce into the 60’s by afternoon.
Thursday should be a nice day across the region, with sunshine slowly giving way to high cloudiness by afternoon. Highs will once again reach the 60’s and the humidity levels will be on the increase. Some showers and thunderstorms enter the forecast Thursday night and Friday, and will be with us off and on through Saturday morning.
