A&L Properties celebrated a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony this week for its newest renovation project: the Historic Wieland Block in Downtown Duluth. The multi-million dollar project is a sweeping change for the block that sits opposite the Duluth Technology Village, which is also owned by A&L Properties. Read more.

Kara Goucher of Duluth finished ninth in the 5,000 meter women’s final today at the Beijing Olympics, in 15:49.39. Winning the gold was Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia with a time of 15:41.40. Goucher was the fastest American in the competition, beating U.S runners Shalane Flanagan and Jennifer Rhines.

. The Duluth Clinic Weight Management Program has received a “Center of Excellence” designation by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, which recognizes surgical programs across the country with high quality standards and a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in weight loss surgery.
