Janet B. Davis Outstanding Volunteer Award launched
. With the help of the Miller-Dwan Foundation and the children and grandchildren of the Janet B. Davis, the Miller-Dwan Medical Center Auxiliary added a new annual award to its collection of volunteer honors. The Janet B. Davis Outstanding Volunteer Award honors Jan’s 40 years of Miller-Dwan volunteer work and also recognizes a special volunteer. Read more.
. The United Way of Greater Duluth Chili Cook-Off is Thursday from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at DECC Arena. Tickets, available at the door, are $6 for adults, $3 for children 10 & under and $16 for families.
In addition to over 40 great chilis, soda, cookies, bread, and ice cream are donated for the event.Attendance is expected to be over 2,000.
New this year: parents can register their children in a free reading program sponsored by United Way called Imagination Library. The program provides a free book each month to children age birth to 5-years-old living in the 55802 thru 55812 zipcode areas.
